課程概述

Course Description
This course aims at exploring Frank O’Hara’s personal poetics. Frank O’Hara’s works create a sense of intimacy and presence, distinguishing his style from his contemporaries writing in the same vein of the personal poetics, such as Robert Lowell and Allen Ginsberg. Instead of addressing a mass indefinite reader, O’Hara’s poetry induces the personal presence both of the reader and the poet. This course aims to help the individual student study how this effect is achieved and develop a master thesis on this topic.

This independent study course seeks to encourage the individual graduate student to pursue his or her own topic of study in preparation for the thesis work.
